The 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards will make its highly-anticipated return on Monday, May 17 for an epic Los Angeles multi-day takeover honoring the biggest and best in movies and television, with a same-day premiere in Asia at 7pm (WIB) and 8pm (SG, MAL).
Immediately following, MTV will air the inaugural MTV Movie & TV Awards: UNSCRIPTED on Tuesday, May 18 at 7pm (WIB) and 8pm (SG, MAL); a first-of-its-kind celebration of all things reality television. Over-the-top, funny and completely fresh, the night will celebrate the jaw-dropping, no-rules, drama-filled moments from our favorite reality shows.
Bling Empire, a reality series focusing on the lives of super-wealthy Asian and Asian-American socialites based in the Los Angeles area, is nominated for “Best Docu-Reality Show” and “Best New Unscripted Series”. Other unscripted series tying with two nominations each are 90 Day Fiancé, Legendary, Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, Nailed It!, Ridiculousness and The Challenge. Iconic reality competition show RuPaul’s Drag Race is currently ahead with four nominations.
Quarantine’s most bingeable reality TV shows including Tiger King, Unsolved Mysteries, Love Is Blind and more are also up for awards this year. Actor Chadwick Boseman also received a posthumous nomination for “Best Performance in a Movie” for his role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
